Hi, I’m Lisbeth Meléndez Rivera

Lisbeth Meléndez Rivera, MAL, is a 35+ year veteran in social justice movements. Lisbeth has extensive experience organizing and training at the intersections of sexual orientation, gender identity, racial/ethnic identity, faith, and culture related explicitly to communities of color in the United States. She has crisscrossed the globe and the country, training workers and community leaders in organizing, leadership development, and community-building strategies from a grassroots perspective.

Lisbeth’s culinary artistry began to be cultivated in the cradle of her great-grandmother. It is passion-filled and fed by her two grandmothers, honed and harvested by her own mother. It encompasses a lifelong love for the power of breaking bread and feeding the body to nurture the soul. Lisbeth brings to the table the stories of her ancestors from the Moor to the Jew and from the Indigenous and the African cuisines that run through her veins. It is from this mixing pot of flavors and cultures that she hopes to invite you into her creations so that you might be nourished as well.

My Approach

“My approach is as personalized as possible. My goal is to be able to feed the activist in you by creating the menus that help us heal and be strong in our search for equity and justice.”

What You Can Expect

“What you can expect from me is candid one-on-one time to go over your menu needs, fresh ingredients, and fresh ideas tailored to your event.”

Why i do what i do

“I see the kitchen as my church. By this I mean that I find community, spirituality and wholeness in that space. It is where I celebrate, where I commune where I can be my radical self as a Holy Troublemaker.”
